Last, Thread the lace across and down through the second-to-bottom-right-eyelet making sure you thread over the first lacing. Continue until fully laced.

This is because as you pull on both sides of the laces, the left lace has to go a long way through a bunch of eyelets and loses force with distance. Thus, the top eyelets pull closer together (more force exerted on them) and the bottom laces remain looser. The position is then held in place by the right side of the lace. The bottom not only gets less cinched, but because the distance in the first thread is so far apart, the bottom lace will never be held so tightly, allowing more space for your toes to be free.
